GETAC Publishes "Elected Officials Guide to Emergency Medical Services"
TAA Board Member Ron Haussecker is pleased to report that GETAC's "Elected Officials Guide to Emergency Medical Services" is available for download via the DSHS website. [Click Here]
According to Ron, interested parties can print it out ( color or black and white on their printer) staple it together and use it as needed.
The intent is for the Guide to be updated every two years as laws and rules change. Ron recommended the State or a Texas State EMS Association create a EOG in the beginning, and advocated this for over 10 years. "I'm very proud of the RTF Group that took this project on and worked countless hours to put this together over the last 2-3 years." stated Ron. "The list of the members on the task force is on the site. Please say thank you to them when you see them, or maybe email them a thank you. They did this strictly as volunteers with help from different groups, and DSHS as well as ORCA."
Ron believes the Guide will be very important in keeping our elected officials new and old, their staffers, updated/educated on the laws/rules at all levels of government as well the public. The Guide can also be used as a tool in Texas to educate the public. Ron adds "we put a lot of links in this and it was meant to be an overview that would lead to all the rules/laws/information that pertains to EMS."
